M.A. Diaconic Management (international)
Profile of the Program
Efficient Diaconic Management needs integrative thinking of theological and economic dimensions. In collaboration with the United Evangelical Mission (UEM), Wuppertal (Head office), an English version of the MA-curriculum has been developed and internationally organized. Relevant topics of Business Administration/ Economics, Theology and Ethics are taught in each paradigm and are interrelated. Conceptual basis is the New St. Gallen Managementmodel.
After successful studies students are rewarded the title Master of Arts (MA) in the accredited program.
Structure of the Program
The program contains 60 ECTS and is part time for a group of max. 15 students. It is taught in three continents. The program starts in Europe (Protestant University Wuppertal/Bethel, Institute for Diaconic Science and Diaconic Management), continues in South Africa (Stellenbosch University), The Philippines (Silliman University, Dumaguete City), Tanzania (Sebastian Kolowa Memorial University (SEKOMU), Lushoto) and ends in Europe (Protestant University Wuppertal/Bethel, Institute for Diaconic Science and Diaconic Management). Each section is taught during four to five weeks and starts with regional field research.
IDM and UEM are organizing the program and all related services mutually.
Professors for Theology, Ethics, Economics and Management from partner universities as well as qualified executives are teaching. Intercultural and interdisciplinary learning corresponding to the diversity of the group enrich the pedagogic basis.

Francis Yao Amaglo (46) Pastor/Sociologist
„We are good both at preaching and at pastoral work, but we still lack a fair share of knowhow in diaconia.“
„I have come to learn about management, and the roles and responsibilities of leaders.“ Many projects are said to have taken off on a good start only to collapse a few years later. He feels reassured and encouraged by the course: “I have gained in confidence and faith, and have acquired many new skills, and in particular strategies. That is very inspiring.“
